What is the upcoming future of space technology in India?

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Microsoft have signed an MoU to promote the development of space technology startups in India. The objective of both the institutes is to strengthen space tech startups across the country with technology tools and platforms. Along with this, they have to get mentorship and help in becoming an enterprise ready to expand and get market support. ISRO and Microsoft’s partnership will further strengthen ISRO’s vision to harness the market potential of the most promising space tech innovators and entrepreneurs in India. Due to this collaboration, space tech startups identified by ISRO will be linked to the Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub platform, which supports startups at every stage of their journey from idea to becoming a unicorn.

Open sky world

Space science is the branch under which millions of planets, satellites, stars, comets, galaxies and other cosmic objects beyond the Earth are studied. Apart from this, under space science, the rules and effects which govern them are also studied. A career in space science is also an opportunity to uncover thousands of mysteries that are still unresolved. This is not only a test of scientific nature, but your curiosity also gets quenched level by level. While those who choose this as their career are counted among the best brains of the country, they also have a unique identity as intellectuals at the international level.

What is space science?

Space science or space technology is a huge field. Under this comes the study of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Primary Atmosphere and Aeronomy, Earth Sciences and Solar System. In today’s era, there are many sub-branches of space science. The main ones among these are Cosmology, Stellar Science, Planetary Science, Astronomy, Astrology etc. These branches of science and engineering revolve around space. If you do BE in Electrical, Electronics, Electrical Communication after 12th, you can make a career in the field of Instrument Astronomy or Experimental Astronomy. If you move forward in this direction, you can also do PhD in Astronomy. In the field of space science, only master level and PhD programs are generally available in universities in the country. The one-year Joint Astronomy Program is run by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

This quality is necessary to become an astronaut

Many qualities are very important to become an astronaut, one of them is studying the patterns of stars in the sky, their movements etc. This is a very long and time-consuming complex task. Therefore, patience is the first and most important quality of this profession. The next most important characteristic is your curiosity. In this field, answers to mysterious questions have to be sought with full confidence and enthusiasm. Apart from having a scientific approach towards things, you also need to have excellent programming skills.

Satellites are artificial objects that are placed in orbit around the Earth or other celestial bodies for various purposes such as communication, weather monitoring, navigation (Global Positioning System or GPS), Earth observation and scientific research. Rockets are vehicles designed to carry payloads such as satellites or spacecraft into space. They work on the principle of Newton’s third law of motion, which states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Where can you make a career?

After completing education in space science, if you want, you can work as a research scientist in any research institute. You can also get employment in reputed institutions like Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). At the same time, in some non-profit organizations, one gets the opportunity to make astronomical instruments themselves, as well as to work in astronomy projects. After completion of research work, employment opportunities increase considerably.

Microsoft India President Anant Maheshwari said that space tech startups in India are playing an important role in advancing the country’s space capabilities with the power of technology. We are honored to collaborate with ISRO to accelerate the transformation of what is possible in space. Through our technology tools, platforms and mentorship opportunities, we aim to foster cutting-edge innovation.

Conclusion

Beyond access to technology, Microsoft will provide consulting support to space tech entrepreneurs in areas ranging from space engineering to cloud technologies, product and design, fundraising, and sales and marketing. Additionally, founders will have access to Microsoft Learn for startup-focused training content as needed and programs to help build relationships with industry and potential customers. This partnership will help the founders to enter the market. ISRO Chairman S Somnath said that our collaboration with Microsoft will benefit space tech startups in analyzing and processing large amounts of satellite data for various applications with the help of cutting-edge tools like AI, machine learning and deep learning. Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub is a platform to bring together various startups and technology solution providers to support the national space technology ecosystem.
